First Steps
Background check/immunization
This is required for everyone now who works more than 3 days per week
Immunizations will be paid for by MUSC for paid employees – volunteers (incl students) will need to supply their own records
Coordinate with MUSC HR onboarding staff for this process
Secure NetID – HR should supply during orientation/onboarding.
If HR does not supply a NetID (a rare scenario) - reach out to the HR contact that either lab personnel or the new employee have been in contact with.
Note: there are designated contacts by last name for all employees, but this is just for benefits/payroll-type questions.
Secure Badge – HR should give directions in orientation.
If HR does not give directions on acquiring a badge, it will be necessary to contact public safety to ask about getting the new emp a badge (843-792-2261 – ask about new emp ID and you’ll be redirected to the correct desk).
Be sure to ask for a specific time frame that they can pick up the badge so that you can let the new emp know when and where to pick it up.
You may need to get the new emp to email a photo for their badge to psaccess@musc.edu
Note: if, for some reason, new emp cannot pick up badge, public safety will often let another member of the lab pick up the badge.
Secure lab door access – Requires badge #
Email Dean Braddy photo of badge to request access (must be done by supervisor)
Note: All characters on the blue strip need to be visible in the photo – you can send this string of characters typed out but it is often easier just to send a photo.
