# Lynx Machines

* These are Windows machines, so the catalogue of software that will run on these vs our Macs is slightly different.
* They are managed by MUSC IT. This means that in order to do anything that involves admin privileges, we will need to request temporary admin rights from MUSC IT. You may need admin rights to, for example, install certain software.
* To gain admin rights, you will need to do two things:
* Contact Sonny King and request that he grant you admin rights for the day (he is normally very responsive)
* Be able to log off and back on to refresh your account privileges (this could interrupt certain processes, so be sure everything is saved/closed prior to doing this)
* Also, if you are not comfortable doing this, let me know and I can help you!
* The account system is different than our Macs. All you need in order to login to the Lynx machines is your NetID and password. Anyone with a NetID and password can login to these. There are no settings or files shared between accounts.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://bridge-lab.gitbook.io/docs/tech/lynx-machines.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
