Finding dicom data

Go to the [study]imaging folder you need and navigate to the [study]-Accessory_Files folder, and then to the zipped data archive folder.

Example using PUSH2:

After finding your subject data, double click the zipped file to upzip it before loading it into Horos.

Burning scans to a CD

Supplies:

  1. The CD burner (bookshelf by Ryn's desk)

  2. A blank CD and a CD sleeve (bookshelf by Ryn's desk)

  3. A copy of the image disclaimer and user instructions (found at the bottom of this SOP)

  4. Horos dicom viewer

Instructions:

  1. Put a blank disc in the CD burner

  2. Open Horos

  3. Load in the images you want to burn in dicom form

  4. Make sure you have clicked on the entire subject folder in Horos and then click the ‘Burn’ button

  1. An options box will pop up

    • Here are the parameters and options that should be set:

  1. When parameters are set, click the Burn symbol

  2. After about 1-2 minutes (depending on computer speed and amount of dicoms), a secondary option box will pop up

    • If the box is not immediately visible, click the Horos thumbnail on your taskbar and the secondary box should show up

  1. Click ‘Burn’ on the secondary box

    • A status bar should appear

    • This process will take 3-10 minutes depending on computer speed and amount of dicoms

  2. While the CD is burning:

    • Cut out a piece of the scrap folder that is big enough to wrap around the CD sleeve

      • This is intended to provide an extra layer of protection and support for the CD

    • Print out a copy of the image disclaimer (scroll down to the image disclaimer on the last page of this document, change the red ‘[your study]’ text to be the name of your study, print this SOP, and select ‘Current Page’)

Saving scans to a USB

The directions are largely the same except that instead of using the CD burner and a CD, locate a blank USB drive, insert it, and follow the directions above for burning a CD - being sure to select "USB Key" instead of "CD/DVD Media" on the DICOM Burner pop out box.
